How to Treat Our Campervans

Our campervans are classics – full of character, charm, and quirks. They are not modern motorhomes, and that’s all part of their appeal. In return for the joy they bring, we ask that you treat them with care, patience, and respect.

  • Drive gently – They are happiest cruising at a relaxed pace. No harsh acceleration, no racing – he’s built for the scenic route.

  • Keep it clean – Please return the Campervan in the same clean condition you received it. We’ll supply cleaning basics to help.

  • No smoking or vaping – To preserve the vintage interior and the health of future guests, our Campervans are strictly a smoke-free zone.

  • Respect their limits – They are old! Avoid overloading and stick to proper roads – no off-roading or wild terrain.

  • Weather wise – but in high winds or storms, it’s best to keep everything secure and take precautions.

If you look after our Campervans, they will take great care of you – giving you memories, not mishaps.

Our Campervans Aren’t Your Average Modern Vans

They’re vintage vehicles with their own rhythm – and driving them is all part of the adventure!

Here’s what you need to know before taking the wheel:

Take It Slow

These vans love a relaxed cruise, with an ideal speed of no more than 50mph. There’s no rush – it’s all about the journey, not the destination. Overtaking is best avoided unless absolutely necessary – they’re built for enjoying the road, not racing.

Manual Gears

Both campervans have a 4-speed manual gearbox, so confidence with a clutch and gearstick is essential. Gear changes are a little more “loose” than modern vehicles – take your time and never force it. Second gear is best for pulling off, especially on hills; first gear is mainly for gentle, crawling starts.

Fuel & Range

They run on unleaded petrol – we’ll show you where and how to fill up. Being vintage, they’re not the most fuel-efficient, so allow for more frequent fuel stops on longer journeys.

Braking & Handling

No ABS – they drive much more like classic cars. Leave extra braking distance, particularly when slowing from higher speeds. They’re wider than they look, so take care on narrow roads and around corners.

Hills & Traffic

They’ll climb hills happily, just not in a hurry – be kind to the clutch and take your time. In stop-start traffic, avoid riding the clutch and keep things smooth.

Top Tips for Happy Driving

Plan your route – try to avoid steep mountain passes and busy city centres. Keep it calm – sudden moves and hard braking aren’t their style. Most importantly, enjoy the moment – driving these campervans is all about slowing down and soaking it all in.
